It’s raining prizes for Quasthoff

Good news for the legendary German baritone Thomas Quasthoff. Not only did he win the prestigious ‘Herbert von Karajan Musikpreis 2009’, which is a true recognition of his skills and makes him 50.000 Euro richer, but it was also announced that he will receive the Royal Philharmonic Society Gold Medal, which ranks him amongst the likes of Plácido Domingo and Claudio Abbado. Watch him perform Franz Schubert’s ‘Winterreise’ with another much decorated artist on the piano: Daniel Barenboim.
